Nostradamus prophecy: Quatrain 8, 83

Le plus grand voile hors de port de Zara,
Pres de Bisance fera son entreprinse,
D'ennemi parte & l'ami ne sera,
Le Tiers deux fera grand pille & prinse.

The largest sail set out of the port of Zara,
near Byzantium will carry out its enterprise.

Loss of enemy and friend will not be,

a third will turn on both with great pillage and capture.

Cánh buồm cưc lớn đó ở ngoài cảng Zara, 

gần Byzantium, người ấy sẽ hòan tất công việc của mình. 

Sẽ không có tổn thất về kẻ thù và bè bạn,

Kẻ thứ ba sẽ trở thành thù địch với hai kẻ trước, và cướp phá lớn rồi chiếm lấy.

Các sự kiện xảy ra ba trăm năm trước trong cuộc Đệ tứ Thập tự chinh. Những người dân Venice (Zara) đồng ý tham gia Thập tự chinh với điều kiện phải chi cho họ một khỏan tiền lớn và họ phải được hửong một nửa số chiến lợi phầm. Những thành viên của cuộc Thập tự chinh không thể kiếm đâu ra cho đủ số tiền đó và thay vào đó là chiếm lấy Zara và bị Giáo hòang quyết định rút phép thông công. Họ tiếp tục lấn chiếm và cướp phá Byzantium (Istanbul) và hình thành Romania.

Một chuyển tiếp long trọng khi họ mở tiệc ăn mừng, kẻ chiến thắng bị đánh bại quân thù, con ngựa ăn hết thức ăn của nó.

Một sự kiện xảy ra lúc Nostradumus còn nhỏ tuổi là trận chiến ở Ravenna năm 1512. Ravenna và Perugia đều thuộc chế độ Giáo hòang và bị rơi vào tay lực lượng do Gaston de Foix cầm đầu.
