The library is interested in expanding the Housebound Library Service through the use of volunteers. The Housebound Library Service is available to eligible residents who are unable to attend the library due to illness, disability and frailty and do not have someone who can do this for them. 
Home library visits are scheduled on a regular basis, usually once a month.
The library is now seeking suitable volunteers who have a positive approach, desire and an interest in working with aged, frail and disabled residents. Interested applicants are required to attend an initial information session, to be followed by a formal recruitment process . Volunteers are required to use their own vehicle for this volunteer work. Note that there is no reimbursement for any costs incurred in the course of this volunteer role.

An internship with RedR Australia will provide exposure to the operations of RedR Australia and insights into the humanitarian sector. RedR Australia’s internship program aims to empower junior / entry-level professionals by providing meaningful learning opportunities and opportunities to engage in hands-on tasks, equipping them with relevant skills and tools for success.
Our Communications Service manages the organisation’s marketing and communications outputs.

Key details of the internship

Interns will be supported by a supervisor and allocated a buddy. Interns will engage in various activities to strengthen their professional experience and undertake activities which may support the learning outcomes as part their university / TAFE competency requirements. Activities may include the following:
  • Undertake research and analysis to support our marketing and communications initiatives
  • Review and develop content for our website, media releases, social media and publications
  • Assist in a range of activities supporting promotional campaigns and events
  • Help to maintain systems in a transparent manner including updating our internal information systems and photo library
  • Communication with field deployees
  • Support the Communications team in excellent service delivery.

Who we are looking for

The intern should be either a tertiary / TAFE student or recent graduate in Communications, Journalism, PR, marketing or a related discipline. Throughout the selection process we will be looking for the following attributes:
  • Interest in the humanitarian sector and international emergency response
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Showing initiative
  • Ability to undertake research, analysis, evaluation.
