Please don't come to this island thinking it is worth your time do you know how many vietnamese people died here and in the seas. There was a story where a young girl was raped and was floated back onto thailand shore where her nipples were cut off, vagina torn apart with blood and bugs living in her eyes. I'm telling you this island is not an island of fun and games and if you want to go on a nice vacation please go somewhere different
I learned about the fate of the Vietnamese refugees at Ko Kra by the articles of the writers Nhật Tiến, Dương Phục and Vũ Thanh Thủy in the newspapers in 1980. I was very shocked. The present Somali pirates are still much more civilised than Thai pirates in those days.
In the years 1978-1980 hundreds of Vietnamese refugees perished on this island. They were caught by Thai fisherman-turned pirates on high sea and let loose on the island. Then from time to time the pirates landed and hunted down those poor people as games. They raped women, killed men for pleasure. Some young women took their own lives to protect their honour. Visitors to the island might be haunted by the ghosts. Type "ko kra pirates" in Google Search to verify my statements.
