Kindergarten Lunch Ideas
1.
Lunch:
Cheese Paratha Roll
Recipe: You can use tortillas or wheat paratha roll (found at Indian stores) for this one. Simply fry the paratha with 1 tsp of butter in a pan. Spread some mayonnaise or cream cheese. And place a slice of cheese on it and roll. Cut the roll in two. And you are done!
Snacks:
Fruit jellies, baby banana, lays and dried cranberries or raisins.
2.
Lunch:
Creamy cheese sandwich
Recipe: Spread some cream cheese on the bread and place a cheese slice on top. Sandwich it and cut into squares.
Snacks:
Baby banana, shortbread rings, raisins, pure fruit juice and cheese sticks.
3.
Lunch:
Chicken nuggets with cheese and baby carrots.
Recipe: Marinate boneless chicken pieces in ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and pepper (according to your taste). Add some soya sauce if you like. Let it stay in the marinade for a while. I like to do this in the afternoon and cook at night.
Now take each chicken piece and fold in breadcrumbs. You can either deep fry or bake these chicken nuggets.
Snacks:
Banana, Chocolate fudge biscuits.
4.
Lunch:
Chicken burger and cow cheese.
Recipe: Boil and shred chicken. Now add some salt, pepper, bread crumbs and egg to make a paste which is sticky enough to bind. Make cutlets or chicken patties. Now fold in some more bread crumbs and place them in a greased baking tray. Bake the patties at 450F for 30 minutes each side. Spread some butter and grill the buns. Now spread some mayonnaise on one side and ketchup on the other side on the bun. Add a slice of tomato and cucumber. Place the chicken patty and your chicken burger is ready.
Snacks:
Pure fruit juice, cheerios (or any other cereal), oreo cookies and candy (puts a smile on his face).
5.
Lunch:
Paratha slices and mozzarella sticks
Recipe: You can find parathas at an Indian store with ease. Simply fry them on both sides with some butter. These come in the form of frozen rounds, ready to be cooked. Very easy to prepare and healthy for toddlers/ kids.
And ready made oven baked mozzarella sticks.
Snacks:
Pure fruit/ vegetable juice (whatever your child prefers), shortbread ring, baby carrots, dried cranberries and smarties.
6.
Lunch:
Veggie Pizza Sandwich
(The easiest pizza you would have ever eaten.
It started with my craving for pizza on the bread and got reinvented into this recipe my boy loves.)
Recipe: Spread some pasta sauce on both bread slices. Slice small pieces of green pepper, mushrooms and onions (pineapples, pepperonis, olives, tomatoes, pickles and whatever you like). Place them on the bread, add some shredded cheese or add a cheese slice. I like to add cheese slice because it’s easy and quick. Now top it with the other bread slice. Place it in the pre-heated oven for a quick 5 minutes. We only want to heat and melt the cheese and toast the crust a little (not harden it).
Snacks:
Ruffles, Pure fruit juice, cheerios (rice krispies) and butter cookies.
7.
Lunch:
Cheese Croissant
Recipe: I love love love Pillsbury. Open and unroll Pillsbury croissant. Spread a layer of cream cheese and add some shredded cheese on it. Roll them and place them in a baking tray. Bake as per directions.
You can also try these with fruit jams, peanut butter spread, whipped cream and nutella.
Snacks:
Strawberry milk, cheese sticks, dried cranberries, chocolate chip cookies, cheerios and fruit drops.
8.
Lunch:
Jam and butter sandwich with cheese slice.
Recipe: Dear old jam and butter (or margarine) spread sandwiches.
I like to use margarine (because it is less processed) with pure raspberry jam.
Snacks:
100% Orange Juice, tortillas and chocolate fudge biscuits.
9.
Lunch:
Cream cheese sandwich with french fries.
Recipe: Simple cream cheese spread sandwich with homemade french fries.
Snacks:
Orange chocolate wafers, red seedless grapes and 100% Apple juice.
10.
Lunch:
Chicken cheese sandwich
Recipe: I like to boil a whole batch of chicken at a time. It easily lasts me for a month. What I like to do is simply boil boneless chicken with ginger garlic paste and some salt. Ginger and garlic have properties that prevent bacterial growth. Once done, shred and make small airtight bags. Take some according to your week’s consumption and freeze the rest.
Now add ketchup, mayonnaise, salt and pepper to make a chicken spread. Spread it on the bread after a layer of mayonnaise on each.
Add cheese slice if you like. And cut into squares.
Snacks:
100% Apple juice, red seedless grapes, toaster strudel and kit kat.
11.
Lunch:
Waffles with maple syrup
Recipe: If you have a waffle maker you can make these with a homemade waffles recipe. I love Eggo waffles, which you can simply toast or bake. Then add some maple syrup on it and they become spongy. You can give these with bananas and nutella. Mine loves the simple version.
What other recipes you like making with waffles? Do share with me.
Snacks:
Strawberry milk, cheerios, lays, orange slices and nerds.
Finally I would like to share another recipe, I forgot to take a picture of.
12.
French toast
Recipe: Mix 1 egg, salt, pepper and 2-3 tbsp of milk in a plate. Now dip both the sides of the bread in the mixture. And fry it in a pan on both sides with 1/2 tsp of butter each. Make sure the pan is hot when you put the bread in it.
Note: I tried making this with only one bread because I was not sure if my boy will be able to eat two slices of french toast. And it turned out to be a thick single french toast. And I like it that way!
However, you can use 1 egg mix with two bread slices.
More Snack Ideas:
Hard boiled egg cut into cubes, garlic bread, strawberry slices, celery, cucumbers, bread sticks, hash browns, donuts, watermelon, cantaloupe.
