1. FROZEN
We all know the #song and we've seen the merchandise EVERYWHERE and this is one of the great kidult movies to indulge in. There was even a report in the news recently about police in Kentucky issuing an arrest warrant for Queen Elsa's arrest after the rural town of Harlan had received more bad weather than expected. Frozen is a great movie which captures the hearts and imaginations of everyone, regardless of age. And if your town or city is currently in the grip of a cold spell you have a great excuse to snuggle up in the sofa and indulge in this movie.
2. PUSS IN BOOTS
As a cat lover, this film has a special place in my heart. It's a fun movie with the voices of Antonia Banderas as Puss in Boots, Salma Hayek as Kitty Soft Paws and Zach Galifianakis as the clumsy Humpty Dumpty. If you're a cat lover, you will love this movie too.
3. SHREK
This film is just fabulous. Who can forget Eddie Murphy as the hilariously endearing donkey! It has been made into a musical and has spawned a couple of sequels too. It has a star-studded cast too with Shrek voiced by the marvelous Mike Myers and Princess Fiona by Cameron Diaz. Shrek is an ogre who enjoys his solitary lifestyle but when some annoying fairy tale characters call on him for help, his #world is turned upside down.
4. TANGLED
Tangled is another great movie for adults and kids alike. Rapunzel is the inspiration for this movie and she has 70 feet of magical golden #hair. After being locked away for years, she pines for her freedom.
5. UP
Up is another movie which has captured the hearts of children and adults alike. When a 78 year old balloon salesman fulfills his dream of flying away on his house to South America, he isn't impressed to find that a little #boy has managed to sneek onboard and accompany him on his travels.
6. FINDING NEMO
Who can forget the fabulous soundtrack to this movie as well, as the voices of stars such as Ellen DeGeneres who plays the blue reef fish Rory. Nemo has a shortened fin and his father Marlin is a little over protective. When Nemo swims too close to the surface, he is caught by a diver and Marlin makes it his mission to set him free.
7. DESPICABLE ME
This is another great movie aimed at kids but which the adults secretly enjoy too. Steve Carell is the voice of the super-villain Gru who hatches a plan to steal the moon. He's surrounded by his army of little yellow minions and he won't let anyone or anything stand in his way. However, his heart of ice begins to melt when three adorable orphan girls want to make him their father.
8. THE WIZARD OF OZ
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This is another classic movie that makes you forget your age as you're transported to the magical land of Oz. You're never too old to follow that Yellow Brick Road towards the Emerald City, accompanied by the Scarecrow, Tin #Man and Cowardly Lion.
9. MARY POPPINS
When you get used to Dick Van Dyke's horrendous cockney accent, you can start to enjoy this great movie about a magical nanny who transforms the lives of the Banks Family. It's an enchanting movie and Julie Andrews is fabulous as the Mary Poppins - practically perfect in every way!
10. WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
I have to confess, I wasn't a fan of the more recent interpretation of this Roald Dahl classic tale about a #boy who finds the Golden Ticket. Gene Wilder is great as the whacky Willy Wonka and although it's not filled to the brim with special effects like many movies made today, it is still fabulous.
11. LABYRINTH
I have saved the best til last and this marvelous movie from 1986 is one that I will never tire of, no matter how old I get. I think I just have a #crush on David Bowie who plays the strangely alluring Goblin King. The soundtrack is fabulous too and it's one movie that always picks me up when I'm feeling down.
These are just some of the movies you can indulge in as an adult and they prove that you don't need to be a child to enjoy films which are aimed at a younger audience. Which kid's movies to you enjoy watching as an adult?
